About Us

Our Family, Our Calling
"If you've found your way here, chances are you're facing one of life's most difficult moments. We want you to know that you don't have to walk through it alone. Welcome to our family."
- Eric and allison neiman
Oak & River Funeral Homes is the new name for the funeral home formerly known as Oakdale-Riverbank Memorial Chapels. While our name has changed, our commitment to serving families with compassion, integrity, and personal care remains the same. We are honored to continue caring for generations of families who have placed their trust in us.
At Oak & River Funeral Homes, we believe a funeral home is defined not by its buildings, but by the people who serve within them. While we are grateful for the beautiful facilities entrusted to our care, our greatest strength is our team. Together, we bring decades of experience, compassion, and a shared commitment to serving families with dignity, professionalism, and genuine kindness.
We believe every family deserves to be treated as if they were our own because, when someone entrusts us with the care of a loved one, they become part of our family for that moment in time.
Funeral service is more than a profession to us. It is a calling. We understand that loss doesn't happen on a schedule, which is why we answer the phone at every hour of the day and night, ready to help when families need us most.
Our family has learned that serving others often means setting aside our own plans. Our children have grown up understanding that when a family calls in their greatest time of need, we answer. They have learned that funeral service is more than a career. It is a way of life.
Eric and Allison Neiman have dedicated more than 27 years to caring for families through some of life's most difficult moments. After owning and operating a respected funeral home in the East Bay for more than two decades, they chose to move their family to California's Central Valley in search of a slower pace of life and a community they could call home. When the opportunity arose to continue the legacy of one of the region's most respected funeral homes under a new name, they embraced it with gratitude, humility, and a deep commitment to the families they serve.
Eric entered funeral service after graduating from San Francisco State University and the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science. After graduating from the University of California, Santa Barbara, Allison joined Eric not only in life but also in funeral service. Together, they have built a family-centered approach to funeral care rooted in compassion, integrity, and personal service.
Outside of the funeral home, Eric and Allison are deeply committed to the communities they serve. Whether supporting local schools, coaching youth sports, serving through their church, or simply being neighbors and friends, they believe caring for a community extends far beyond the walls of a funeral home.
Eric also shares his passion for educating and encouraging others through his online platform, Eric the Undertaker. Through Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok, he helps people better understand death, grief, and funeral service by answering questions, sharing stories, and encouraging meaningful conversations that bring comfort and hope. His mission is simple: to make conversations about death less intimidating and to help families discover the healing that comes through meaningful remembrance.
For us, funeral service has never simply been about caring for those who have died. It has always been about caring for the people who remain.
Every family has a story worth telling. Every life deserves to be remembered. Every goodbye should reflect a life well lived.
To us, this is more than a business. It is a calling to serve, a ministry of compassion, and a privilege we never take for granted. Whether helping a family plan ahead or walking beside them through an unexpected loss, our purpose remains the same: to provide exceptional care, genuine compassion, and lasting hope.
We are honored to walk alongside families in life's most difficult moments because we believe that even in the midst of grief, it is still possible to create extraordinary moments in ordinary days.
