ROBERT (G-BOB) GENE DIECKMAN

AUGUST 17, 1946 ~ OCTOBER 13, 2015

Robert (G-Bob) Gene Dieckmann, age 69, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at his home in Oakdale, CA.

Bob was born in South San Francisco on August 17, 1946, to parents Melvin John Dieckmann and Ethel Florence (Walter) Dieckmann.

Bob went to school in South San Francisco and graduated from John O'Connell High School where he majored in Machine Shop and Welding. Bob had a love of fixing machinery early on in life. He was often found working on the family's car and tinkering with anything he could get his hands on. He would spend summers on the family farm in Novato, CA, where he enjoyed playing on the tractor and helping his Uncle Vick in the family orchard. After graduating high school, Bob served his country by joining the U.S. Army where he worked as a machinist on tanks and trucks in Germany. Bob enjoyed going fishing and hunting and continued those hobbies his entire life.

After working in the Bay area and the Valley, Bob relocated to Oakdale in 1987, where he owned his own ranch. He enjoyed being outdoors and working with his cows. In 1988, Bob was employed at The Modesto Bee where he worked as a machinist until his retirement in 2008. While working at The Modesto Bee he met his wife, Marie, and they have been married for 23 years.

Bob is survived by his loving wife Marie Louise (Allan) Dieckmann; his stepsons, Kurtis (Tracie) Evick of Tennessee, and Kevin (Melissa) Evick of San Diego; two grandsons, Keagan and Trenton of Tennessee; and a granddaughter, Kaylee of San Diego. He also leaves a brother, Richard (Leatha Ann) Dieckmann; and two nieces, Morgan (Dieckmann) Mabery and Shannah (Dieckmann) Andrade.

Bob was a kind, soft spoken man who will be missed dearly by friends and family alike.

Funeral services will be held at the Oakdale Memorial Chapel, 830 W. F St., Oakdale, CA, on Thursday, October 22 at 1:30pm.
