Dennis Michael Kerber passed away peacefully at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto, California, on Saturday, August 1st, 2026, at 10:45 p.m., surrounded by family and loved ones.
Born in Evanston, Illinois, on November 14th, 1949, Dennis was the second of two sons of George Louis Kerber and Catherine Lois Hartig. He was raised in Skokie and attended St. George High School before graduating from the Illinois Institute of Technology with a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering.
Dennis bought his first house in Oakdale, California, in 1978. He met Julie Anne Ottman through a Catholic singles group at Our Lady of Fatima Church of Modesto where they were both parishioners. They married in 1983 and together raised three sons.
He worked as a Production Control Manager at The Wine Group for 36 years, where colleagues knew him as dedicated and responsible.
A devout Catholic, Dennis was involved with Journey in Christianity for over a decade. He sang as a tenor in the church choir for 17 years. He loved musicals and classic films, cheering for the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears, and traveling with his family.
Dennis was a very gracious host, always making sure everyone had what they needed. He was gentle and faithful in the way he lived and cared for others. His friends and family describe him as a scholar and a gentleman--kind, generous, and thoughtful. He went above and beyond as a provider and always ensured his family was cared for.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Julie Anne Kerber; his sons John (Nicole), and Timothy (Geoff), Andrew (Faith); his grandson, Liam; and his nephew Mike (Stefani).
He will be deeply missed by his family, loved ones, and the many friends whose lives he touched.
