GLEN IVAN GRIGGS passed away on July 27, 2014 in Oroville, CA, at the age of 92.

He was born March 28, 1922 in Saskatchewan, Canada to Stella M. and Howard I. Griggs and moved with his family to Ceres in 1933. Glen left high school at age 15 to learn the meat-cutting trade at Anchor Meat Company in Modesto. He enlisted in the US Navy in December 1941. During World War II Glen served as a cook at the Naval Hospital in Oceanside, CA and on ships in the South Pacific, where he saw duty in the Philippines, Guam, Iwo Jima, Okinawa and Hawaii. He met and married his future wife, Agnes Rebecca Moore, while stationed at Oceanside. After the war, Glen & Agnes settled in Oakdale, where he built their home and they raised their two children, Linda and Gary. Glen was the co-owner and butcher of Westside Grocery & Meat Market in Oakdale from 1948-1976; he was an accomplished handyman who could fix just about anything and an avid gardener.

Glen was pre-deceased by Agnes (married 53 years at the time of her death in 1995), his parents, and his four siblings: Florence, James, Gladys and William. Glen is survived by his daughter, Linda Griggs Cress; son, Gary Allen Griggs; daughter-in-law, Judy Griggs; three grandchildren and three great-granddaughters.

Graveside service will be held at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Oakdale on Tuesday, August 5, at 10 A.M
